This race is one of the most beautiful in the world. The course is known for its calm Pacific Ocean swim. Santa Barbara’s oceanfront is protected by the Channel Islands which lie just 15 to 20 miles off shore. The bike route leads you from the heart of Santa Barbara through the neighboring towns of Montecito and Carpinteria. If you’re watching where your going you’ll see some of the most exclusive neighborhoods and gorgeous mountainsides on the West Coast. You’ll also be wowed by the run course which incorporates the entire Santa Barbara oceanfront bike path, which leads you along seven miles of coastal views. As you cross the finish line you will be greeted by our volunteers and exuberant spectators welcoming you to the beach party.

34 Mile Bike: Obey all traffic laws – this is an open course. Safety is our first concern. This spectacular bike course starts and finishes with a flat and fast two mile straightaway. The middle section is somewhat technical and includes three mandatory stops (race officials and CHP officers at each stop);disqualifications will be strictly enforced. There will be a water bottle transfer at approximately mile 15.

10 Mile Run: Most of the run is on a bike path. The rest is on residential streets that are open to traffic. Please obey traffic laws. There are a few awesome inclines but the route starts and finishes with a flat and fast two mile leg. There will be water stations at each mile.

2004 Maps are posted.

There is a change in this years Long Course Bike Course.
Jameson Road is closed due to a bridge reconstruction project.

The New Course will stay the same until you reach North Jameson Road.
There will be a detour on North Jameson making a LEFT turn on HIXON. Continue along HIXON as it becomes SAN LEANDRO LN.  A RIGHT turn within the next 0.1 mile to continue on SAN LEANDRO LN. all the way to Sheffield. At the STOP sign turn LEFT onto Sheffield and continue as before.
