fun begins the minute you board the brand new Condor
Express, a 75-foot high-speed luxury catamaran that will whisk us
over to the Channel Islands in less than an hour, unless of course we
see an amazing pod of dolphins or slow down to enjoy the passing of a
mother whale and her calf. (Snacks,
sodas and spectacular views along the way are "on the house.")
When we arrive at Santa Cruz Island, an experienced guide will give you
a brief kayak orientation, and then it’s into a kayak you go. (Yes, even
if you’ve never kayaked before in your life and have the athletic ability
of a tree stump.) For the next hour and a half, you’ll explore the seldom-seen
coastal caves of western Santa Cruz Island at your own pace. Sure to blow
your mind is Painted Cave, one of the largest and deepest sea caves in
the world, aptly named for the rainbow of rocks, lichens and algae that
line its sweeping interior. As you cruise along, if the weather and tides
cooperate you may get treated to a dramatic water show, as waves erupt
through the breath-taking stone archways
that line the island’s coast. When you’re done, turn your gear over to
